Abstract: This study presents a reflection about the evaluation process used by the geography teachers of the municipal school system of the municipality of Monteiro-PB, in order to analyze how the procedure is, which instruments are adopted and how these teachers’ training aspects are presented. . It also has a historical overview of geography and its origin, the formation of this area of knowledge as a science and as a school subject. Therefore, this study has the general objective of analyzing the evaluation process adopted by teachers of the municipal network of Monteiro-PB in geography classes. To delimit such objectification we have more specifically: To know the history of geography from its origin, institutionalization and as a school subject; analyze the evaluation processes existing in the school context and how it was inserted in the school environment today; and conduct a survey with the geography teachers of Monteiro on the assessment used. The methodology adopted was a descriptive research, with a quantitative approach, through a case study, with a sample of 13 geography teachers from the municipal school system of Monteiro, state of Paraíba. In conclusion, it was noticed that the vast majority of teachers surveyed have sufficient training and service time to know the evaluation processes adopted in the schools they teach, and that make use of different instruments in the evaluation, besides knowing and practicing different forms of evaluation, as the diagnostic, formative and summative assessment during the school year
