Abstract: The presence of technologies and their media resources requires educational institutions and teachers to adopt new attitudes to the teaching and learning process. Particularly in education, with a view to teaching Portuguese, the use of any technological resource requires a change in teaching practice, providing meaningful experiences for students, as well as innovating teaching methodologies, benefiting all students. experiences for students, as well as innovating teaching methodologies, benefiting everyone involved in the process. It’s common to talk about the use of new technologies in the teaching-learning process. However, in the school environment, this is not always the case. This paper proposes a reflection on the ICTs applied by teachers at the José Inácio Cavalcanti da Silva Municipal School, the difficulties in introducing these media and, above all, the aspect of improvements in Portuguese language teaching. In view of these propositions, we investigated the use of ICT in teachers’ pedagogical work, taking into account the difficulties they face in using these tools and their importance as a teaching methodology aimed at more substantial learning in the subject of LP. This information, acquired through field research, provided information on the use of existing resources and what determines the non-use of this apparatus in teaching practice. Based on the results obtained, it was found that there is a need for greater action on the part of those involved in improving quality at this level of education, such as: the introduction of new technologies, the training and awareness of teachers and managers on the use of such resources, and also the acquisition of this equipment by the competent bodies.
