Abstract:

This research is focused on the study of Sex Education based on a philosophical, historical, cultural, pedagogical and socio-emotional perspective, produced through researches about the issues, thought and perspectives emerging from teachers that work or not this education in the classroom with their students and how they and their parents face this subject. This is a descriptive and explorer research carried out in two stages. The first one is about the collection of data on socio-emotional information in the surveys proposed to 40 parents, 56 students and 11 teachers from one Elementary School in the final years, and 95 parents, 133 students and 32 teachers from another school in High School. About the surveyed in both schools, more than 50% were female, 75% felt that Sex Education should be received in both family and school. Approximately 50% of parents questioned said that in parent meetings the Sex Education of their children is not talked and also said that when the teenagers get to know and to have this education, they set up better relationships and learn more subjects. As for students, 50% of each school reported that this type of education was never offered, 30% of all surveyed stated that the most suitable grade to receive this kind of subject is since the 8th grade of Elementary School, about 46.4% do not talk to parents and family about Sex Education, 41.1% of the surveyed of the final years and 30.1% of High School reported that only in Science and Biology classes they studied topics related to Sex Education, and 35% suggested that this subject should be included inside the educational projects of these schools. Regarding teachers, more than 50% from total had difficulty working Sex Education in school due to fragmented school planning, about 90% answered that this subject should be received by the student from family and school, 50% never attended any class, 72.7% who teach in the final years felt apropiate to create moments of thought and debate in the school community about Sex Education, and 53.1% who teach in High School found it mandatory to include this subject as part of the school's educational project. From these results, there is no question about the need of an emancipatory and excellence Sex Education in the school environment with an interdisciplinary pedagogical approach that contributes to the mediation of knowledge between teachers and students, besides minimizing parental conflicts with students, providing dialogue and producing a more comprehensive look by everyone who is implicated in this educational process.
