Abstract:

The planning of the manager's activities is an essential need, in order to achieve positive results in the educational action, so it must be the object of reflection on the part of the school collective. It is important to know the perception of the teacher, coordinator and manager about school management, especially if this process occurs in a democratic and humanized way in the face of contemporary society. In this sense, it aimed to verify how democratic and humanized management occurs at the Nossa Senhora do Perpétuo do Socorro Municipal School in the Municipality of Toritama-PE. This is a descriptive, field research, with a quantitative and qualitative approach, involving teachers, coordinators and the school manager. Considering the importance of democratic and humanized school management, the manager reported that the participation of the family and the school community in decisions and monitoring of school activities is important. On the importance of family participation, the manager emphasized that he always invites the school community to participate in decisions involving the institution. The coordinators reported that the importance of democratic and humanized school management concerns several benefits for the entire school context, especially when the school society participates, including the family. Most teachers (82%) consider the management of the Nossa Senhora do Perpétuo do Socorro School as democratic and humanized. All teachers emphasized the importance of the entire school community so that democratic and humanized management actually takes place. Most teachers characterized management as democratic, for that it is necessary to exchange experiences, experience them and live in a loving way in which educator-student-school become managers of life, citizenship, dignity and mutual respect. Knowing that the entire community must compose democratic management, it was found that 55% actively participate and 18% rarely mentioned it. Although the manager Escola Nossa Senhora do Perpétuo do Socorro, in the municipality of Toritama-PE, manages the school environment well, some relevant aspects need to be improved and put into practice to make the actions of the school manager more effective, such as: Renewal of the school board; Provide tutoring, buy more overhead projectors and demand the student's commitment in the pursuit of learning; More frequent meetings between school staff and students' families, I feel that most students' families are absent from the students' educational process. It is concluded that the challenges to obtain positive results in a democratic and humanized management are enormous, as they depend on the school community, when establishing guidelines and bases for its educational system. Regarding the negative aspects of school management in the teachers' perception, most emphasized the lack of attention to students, administrative issues and personal issues of teachers regarding their working hours, among others. The lack of attention to students indicates the lack of humanized practices at school and administrative issues are not shared and thus do not fully achieve democratic management.
