Abstract: This research work on Popular Education in Health aims to highlight and rescue the teachings of master Paulo Freire, who taught several generations of citizens that it is fully possible and desirable that the popular classes participate actively in their educational training, a factor that is key element for public policies to be truly fruitful and made in the light of democratic principles, as is the case of public health policies guided by Popular Education. In this sense, we recover the trajectory of popular health education and the challenges of its proposal, as well as the Freirean teachings that can help in popular health education and overcome the challenges that are present in the 21st century. Still, in view of Paulo Freire’s teachings, we point out how it is possible to promote ethics and a new way of acting, envisioning how it is possible to learn from Freire’s reflections.
