Abstract: Conscious consumption, based on sustainability, has gained new contours in the last decades, especially from the perspective of adopting new habits for the protection of the environment. Thus, consumers and companies themselves started to adopt production and consumption mechanisms that meet these needs, aiming at social responsibility with the environment. Previously, this protection was practically nonexistent, denoting the need to educate individuals about protecting the environment, seeking the adoption of habits that do not attack nature. Man’s relationships with the environment and the manipulation of his resources have been developed in favor of preventive behaviors, aiming at sustainability. Thus, it is prized for economic development, but without the environment suffering with irreparable degradations, having a balance between its use and industrialization. Environmental education and the search for new habits – food, reuse and recycling, as well as the choice of natural products and consumed by companies with social responsibility to the environment, are ways to promote and protect the environment from exacerbated aggressions. This study aimed, from these notes, to analyze the consumption project; and the decision of the Instituto Educacional Compacto, which sought to awaken the professing and teaching body of the Compact College, on the importance of the relationship between man and the environment in the perspective of consumption with conscience aiming at sustainable development. Practicing conscious consumption is an activity of freedom and choice. The direct action of the educator in the classroom is one of the ways to bring environmental education to the community and can be further enriched by extracurricular activities. Readings, scholarly works, research, interviews and debates are activities that give students the understanding and understanding of the inadequacies and problems that plague our planet. It was found that the student body and teacher of the Compact School presented a satisfactory change in their habits of consumption. As a methodology, the level of explanatory research that intends to indicate contributing factors for the occurrence of diverse phenomena to be studied. The field research, with a deepening of the subject through questionnaires applied to the students, and finally, with regard to the research focus, the quantitative approach was chosen, a mixed approach, being the most adequate to obtain opinions and to address explicit and conscious attitudes of the interviewees. It is possible to conclude that the lack of care with consumption causes a series of problems for the planet and is still a problem that is difficult to solve, but that education about sustainable consumption can help with this change in behavior across new generations.
