JOB TITLE: THE CONTEXT OF INDISCIPLINE IN EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION: EPISTEMOLOGICAL AND PRACTICAL ASPECTS

Autor: José Brito da Silva, Maria

Date of document: November, 22-2023

Abstract: The present study aims to explore the potential origins and ramifications, in addition to suggesting alternatives to problems related to the growth of indiscipline in the school environment, especially in the context of early childhood education. Addressing indiscipline in the classroom not only implies redirecting the student to viable mechanisms for the construction of knowledge, but also involves fostering the formation of a citizen capable of respecting effective norms and requirements in the organization of a supportive and rewarding social life for themselves. and for cohabitants belonging to each person’s specific social cycle, encompassing the school nucleus in its entirety. Thus, the study seeks to investigate the relationship that educators establish between their students’ learning performance and indiscipline, with an emphasis on the need for reflection on educational practice and the pedagogical activities proposed in the classroom. Furthermore, we intend to discuss the extent to which these practices contribute to the problem in question. The work also proposes to debate the concept of indiscipline, analyzing its causes and consequences, epistemological and practical aspects, as well as discussing the perception that teachers have about the relationship between learning and indiscipline. In this approach, the research uses a qualitative methodology, based on the triangulation of methods, using a questionnaire, interviews and classroom observation, to collect data. The focus of the investigation was centered on the conception of subjects involved in early childhood education, covering enrolled students, teachers and pedagogical staff at the CEI (Center for Early Childhood Education) Solar da Criança, located in the city of Porto Calvo, in the State of Alagoas, during the year 2022. The results showed that the roots of indiscipline are intrinsically linked to the family sphere, management of the pedagogical team and the establishment of a relationship between family and school. It was observed that the family’s gradual withdrawal from the children’s educational process worsens problems of integration and school motivation, which often manifest themselves as undisciplined behavior, considered one of the main challenges that impact teachers’ pedagogical practice on a daily basis. The importance of family relationships is highlighted, pointing out the absence of family, especially with regard to school interests. In view of this, it was possible to assess that it is imperative to recognize the need to establish an effective partnership between family, school and society, promoting mutual understanding of the importance of limits and rules in the educational and social formation of children, aiming for a more balanced and constructive approach.
