Abstract: The aim of the research is to find out about the use of the IT room in high schools in the municipalities belonging to the 13th State Secretariat for Regional Development in Ituporanga – Santa Catarina – Brazil, in order to measure efficiency in the teaching-learning process. The study is descriptive in nature, with a qualitative and quantitative approach. The data collected through the questionnaire will be organized in graphs to understand the reality of each school. The research population is made up of teachers of the different subjects that make up secondary education, and the monitors responsible for the computer lab, who work in the schools listed below. One of the difficulties encountered in administering the questionnaires was that teachers and monitors abstained. We had 13 schools to analyze, of which only 5 took part, making a total of 23 teachers and 5 monitors. We believe that if all the schools had taken part, the success of the research would have been guaranteed. The results of this research showed the relevance of the subject, which causes fear in some professionals, but at the same time could serve as the basis for a proposal to improve the use of the laboratory. One of the proposals suggested for the school unit would be ongoing training in the use of the computer lab in a way that enables teachers to reflect and act on their use of computers. Acquiring this competence is a valuable opportunity for teachers in this third millennium, because while they teach and work with their students, they also learn, reflect on their practice, on social facts and culturally produced knowledge, grow professionally and value their profession.
