Abstract:

The objective of this work was to describe the development of the pedagogical activities of the Childcare Center Francisca Pereira Luciano so that we highlighted the institution as an educational space in Parelhas, one of Rio Grande do Norte’s city. Therefore, this field research was made descriptively and explanatorily, by using inductive, monographic and statistical methods. For data collection, the extensive direct observation technique was necessary, using a questionnaire as a research instrument, containing open and closed questions. Within the research, it could be known the theoretical-methodological proposal of the childcare center modifying the conception of care education that prevailed in the institutions of this segment. During the development of the research, we perceive the importance of the daycare center for the local community, through the search for enrollment and attendance of those who are already enrolled, thus highlighting the educational work of excellence carried out in the institution, what is expected by parents. The social, emotional, physical, creative and cognitive development of the child was investigated through the conclusive reports exposed in the class diary constructed by the teachers. In the pedagogical journey with the teachers realized in the childcare center, we worked with active and dynamic methodologies, favorable to the construction of significant learning for the development of children at each level. The lecture on the interaction between the family and the school community provided moments of reflection of the role of the family towards the childcare center and the role of the institution towards the family, thus, highlighting both important for the growth of children. The present work involved, mainly, assuming the specificities of early childhood education and reviewing conceptions about childhood, where the institution should allow the child to have different social experiences from the family experience, making contacts with other children in a stimulating, safe and welcoming environment. Thus, the relevance of this research is the possibility of understanding the operational dynamics of the Childcare Center Francisca Pereira Luciano in Parelhas-RN, and the pedagogical action of the institution of Early Childhood Education, where we can define whether the childcare center environment is an educational space or only a warehouse where the families leave their children while they are performing daily activities during the day. In the end, it was found that the childcare center is a space for socialization and interaction, and its function is to take care and educate and that it does not replace the family, so both, the childcare center and the family, are complementary institutions and it should be understood like that. It was also found that the childcare center's educational work should create conditions for children to know new feelings, values, ideas, customs, and social roles.
